Julia ("the App") is an AI companion app for thoughtful conversation and emotional wellness journaling. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use Julia.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Information: Email address and password when you create an account.
• Chat Messages: Text messages you send during conversations with AI agents.
• Wellness Data: Emotional reflections and journal entries you share in the Wellness module.
• Custom Agents: Names, descriptions, photos, and personality configurations for agents you create.

Information Generated Automatically

• Emotional State Metadata: Keywords and emotional categories extracted from your wellness conversations to provide better support.
• Session Data: Timestamps and session identifiers to organize your conversation history.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Location data
• Contacts or address book
• Browsing history
• Device identifiers for advertising
• Health data from HealthKit
• Financial information

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

• Authenticate your account and maintain your session
• Store and display your conversation history
• Power AI-driven conversations with your agents
• Track emotional wellness patterns in the Wellness module
• Improve the quality and relevance of AI responses

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

Our Backend Server

Your chat messages, agent configurations, and wellness data are transmitted to our secure backend server for processing and storage. Data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.

OpenAI

Certain wellness features may send conversation excerpts to OpenAI's API for keyword extraction and emotional analysis. This is used solely to enhance your wellness experience. OpenAI's use of this data is governed by their API data usage policy.

No Other Third Parties

We do not integrate any analytics services, advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or social media SDKs.

5. Data Storage and Security

• Local Storage: Your data is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database for offline access.
• Server Storage: Your data is also stored on our backend server, isolated per user account.
• Passwords: Hashed using bcrypt before storage; we never store plaintext passwords.
• Authentication: Secured with HTTP-only JWT session tokens that expire every 7 days.
• Transmission: All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual agents, conversations, and sessions at any time within the app.

7. Data Deletion

• In-App Deletion: You can delete agents, chat sessions, and messages directly in the app.
• Account Deletion: To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at singlefawn@gmail.com. We will remove all server-side data within 30 days of your request.
• Local Data: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.

8. Children's Privacy

Julia is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at singlefawn@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your data in a portable format
